Dominion Hills Real Estate History

Dominion Hills' history is rooted in agriculture, grazing, orchards, and other farming activities. The Reeves dairy farm grazed cattle mainly in the eastern part of the neighborhood. The development of the community began in 1945. During 1945 and 1955, Mace Properties constructed the first two parts of the community. The number of homes in Dominion Hills reached 420 by 1951. Dominion Hills has about 612 homes today, with more being built in the years to come.

In the past, the Washington and Old Dominion Railway operated between Alexandria and Falls Church along Four Mile Run Drive. On the corner of Wilson and McKinley, the Febrey-Lothrop house is the oldest residence in Dominion Hills. This tract has 9.5 acres and is one of Arlington's most extensive undeveloped tracts. Depending on how the property is parcelled, up to 68 single-family detached houses or 118 townhouses could be built.

Located at the intersection of Wilson Blvd and N McKinley Road, the historic Febrey-Lothrop House was demolished in March 2021. According to county property records, Kennedy Lewis Investment Management owns the site, which was sold in late 2021. Toll Brothers plans to build 40 single-family homes on the site, known as The Grove at Dominion Hills. It has long been zoned "R-6," the same designation as the rest of the homes in Dominion Hills for single-family homes.
